SOCK Camp
Serving Our Community's Kids
SOCK Camp is a one-week summer camp that provides a unique, interactive and free summer experience for elementary age children who would not normally have the financial means to attend a summer camp. SOCK Camp 2019 is set for June 15–19.
The camp was founded in 2006 by Brennan Vail, Samantha Leder, Mary Elizabeth Lovelace, and Ashley Braiser (Class of 2008). New members are selected each year. Learn more about the history of SOCK Camp in Durham Academy Magazine.
SOCK Camp draws its participants from Hope Valley, Eastway and Forest View elementary schools in Durham. The counselors are all members of the DA Upper School community.
Each day during the week of camp is centered around a fun theme, with games, crafts and field trips that correspond with the theme. Lunch is donated every day by a local restaurant, and transportation is provided by Durham Academy if needed.
