When your child enrolls at Durham Academy, your entire family becomes part of the Durham Academy community — and our network of parents is an integral part of our school. DA offers parents many opportunities to be involved both during school hours and in the evening and on weekends, from reading in the classroom and helping with class activities, to helping organize Parents Association community-building events.

Durham Academy Parents Association is committed to representing and serving the needs of our full school community. Through its leadership, programming and support, Parents Association seeks to support Durham Academy’s mission, strategic initiatives and Diversity, Equity and Engagement mission statement.  

Parents Association encourages volunteerism, promotes communication and cooperation, and provides input to the school on issues of concern and interest to parents. All Durham Academy parents are members of the Parents Association. Parents Council is the governing board of Parents Association. This group comprises members of an executive committee; division representatives; members of schoolwide committees on matters such as diversity, wellness and athletics; and parents who organize events.
