Athletics
Interscholastic team sports are a valuable part of the Durham Academy experience for many students, with 77 percent of students in grades 7 through 12 participating. We believe competitive athletics teaches lessons in teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership and the value of sacrifice for the good of a common goal. Athletics can teach students to deal with the elation of success and also the disappointment of failure — and how to benefit from both.
Understanding that teamwork and hard work can not only lead to success, but also be personally satisfying and beneficial is part of a good athletic experience.
With more than 20 TISAC championships in the last four years and more than a dozen Cavalier alumni currently on college rosters, our program has experienced much team and individual success throughout the years. Durham Academy fields 45 athletic teams in 20 different sports, and many teams offer a no-cut policy for participation. I invite you to learn more about this important part of our school.
