Heads Up

Welcome to Heads Up, a blogging experiment that aims to:

  • connect the people, parts, and principles of Durham Academy;
  • share ideas about learning and human development;
  • spotlight a few of the many wondrous things I get to see every day at Durham Academy.

Thanks for reading the posts below — and sending news, links and ideas worth sharing.

How was your day?

The Ulku-Steiner resolution for 2014: voicing every night at dinner (or bedtime when soccer, track, or tennis splinters our full-family dinner plans) one thing each from that day for which we are grateful.

This idea is not new (see here and here for my earlier posts on similar ideas). Nor is it popular with my children. But both research and intuition point to the same conclusion: gratitude can make us happier and help us transcend our selfishness.
