Parents Association & Parents Council
The Durham Academy Parents Association supports the school's academic, social, fine arts and athletic objectives. Parents Association encourages volunteerism, raises and disperses funds, promotes communication and cooperation, and provides input to the school on issues of concern and interest to parents. All Durham Academy parents are members of the Parents Association.
The Durham Academy Parents Council is the governing board of the Parents Association. This group comprises members of an executive committee; division representatives; members of schoolwide committees on matters such as diversity, wellness and athletics; and parents who organize both community-building and fundraising events. See a list of the parents who serve on Parents Council.

Members of the DARC SIDE, Durham Academy Upper School's award-winning robotics team, are lending their engineering skills to the N.C. Botanical Garden's Pumpkins in the BOOtanical Garden event, and they'd love to see lots of DA families there!
The event takes place on Friday, Oct. 27, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the garden (100 Old Mason Farm Rd, Chapel Hill). The fun is $5 per person (ages 3 and under are free) and is appropriate for all ages.
The DARC SIDE team will bring its robot and host the candy catapult exercise. Other activities and sights include glowing pumpkins in the garden, a nature potion station, live animals, a sculpture scavenger hunt and leaf art. There will also be giveaways and prizes. Feeling competitive? Bring a carved pumpkin for the contest!
Pumpkins in the BOOtanical GArden is a fundraiser for Wonder Connection, the mission of which is "to engage hospitalized children with the wonders of science through meaningful learning experiences and to promote healing and hope through positive connections with nature."
