Parents Association & Parents Council

The Durham Academy Parents Association supports the school's academic, social, fine arts and athletic objectives. Parents Association encourages volunteerism, raises and disperses funds, promotes communication and cooperation, and provides input to the school on issues of concern and interest to parents. All Durham Academy parents are members of the Parents Association.

The Durham Academy Parents Council is the governing board of the Parents Association. This group comprises members of an executive committee; division representatives; members of schoolwide committees on matters such as diversity, wellness and athletics; and parents who organize both community-building and fundraising events. Lace up your sneakers and join us on Saturday, Nov. 18, for the eighth annual Durham Academy Turkey Trot 5K and Fun Run! Registration is now open. 

Schedule of Events

Saturday, Nov. 18
  • 8 a.m.: Face paint, music, warm-ups and packet pickup/registration
    By the Upper School tennis courts
  • 9 a.m.: 5K run/walk - Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome and encouraged!
    Starting line is at the front of the Preschool/Lower School
  • 10 a.m.: Fun Run - Kids 10 and under will be divided into age group heats to try and catch the "turkey" before he makes it around the track.
    Upper School track  


  • 5K: $30
  • Fun Run: Free!

Register by Wednesday, Nov. 1, to be guaranteed a Turkey Trot T-shirt!
