Parents Association & Parents Council
The Durham Academy Parents Association supports the school's academic, social, fine arts and athletic objectives. Parents Association encourages volunteerism, raises and disperses funds, promotes communication and cooperation, and provides input to the school on issues of concern and interest to parents. All Durham Academy parents are members of the Parents Association.
The Durham Academy Parents Council is the governing board of the Parents Association. This group comprises members of an executive committee; division representatives; members of schoolwide committees on matters such as diversity, wellness and athletics; and parents who organize both community-building and fundraising events. See a list of the parents who serve on Parents Council.

The Daughters of the American Revolution’s General Davie Chapter has honored DA senior Natalie Giduz with its Good Citizens Award.
The award recognizes students who demonstrate dependability, service, leadership and patriotism, with program participants evaluated on the basis of a written description of how they strive to manifest the qualities of a good citizen; a timed essay; a grade transcript; and letters of recommendation.
As a chapter winner, Natalie has been invited to attend the NCSDAR District VI meeting on March 4, when a district winner will be named.
Service is a big part of Natalie’s life, with the majority of her extra-curricular activities at DA and away from school centered around service to others. She has served as a volunteer with Gigi’s Playhouse, which serves children with Down syndrome; an Augustine Literacy Project tutor and tutor at Hope Valley Elementary School; a volunteer counselor at Cely’s House art camps for children; co-president of DA’s Be Loud! Sophie Club and president of the environment-focused Go Green Club; a volunteer with the TABLE backpack program; a coach with Special Olympics Orange County and a member of DA’s Special Olympics committee; and in several other roles.
