Parents Association & Parents Council
The Durham Academy Parents Association supports the school's academic, social, fine arts and athletic objectives. Parents Association encourages volunteerism, raises and disperses funds, promotes communication and cooperation, and provides input to the school on issues of concern and interest to parents. All Durham Academy parents are members of the Parents Association.
The Durham Academy Parents Council is the governing board of the Parents Association. This group comprises members of an executive committee; division representatives; members of schoolwide committees on matters such as diversity, wellness and athletics; and parents who organize both community-building and fundraising events. Durham Academy’s Strategic Plan Survey Goes Live Next Week
On Tuesday, September 2nd Durham Academy will kick off its 2014-15 strategic planning process with an online survey emailed to all DA parents, faculty, staff and alumni. Your participation is vital in helping DA plan its future. This is your chance to share your ideas about what matters most to you about Durham Academy and help identify the key goals and issues that will propel the school forward in visionary ways. Your feedback will help determine the direction of the school in teaching and learning, the size and strength of our community, our model for financial sustainability and the long-range plan for our campus.
This survey is being conducted by The Link Group, an independent market research company founded by DA parent Tom Pfeil. The results will be reported in aggregate and the survey is completely anonymous. There is no way for the school to connect responses to any specific individuals and your individual identity will remain 100% confidential. The email will come from Head of School Michael Ulku-Steiner. Once you click on the survey link, it should take about 15-20 minutes to complete.
We want as much input as possible, but this won’t be the only chance for your voice to be heard. DA will hold a series of strategic plan listening sessions for parents, current students, alumni and parents of alumni starting in late September. DA faculty and staff participated in a day-long listening and planning session earlier this month. You can visit the Strategic Plan page on the DA website for a list of important dates, the timeline for the strategic planning process, contact information for members of the Strategic Plan Steering Committee or to submit questions or feedback. You can also navigate there by using the Quick Links tab on the home page of the website. Don’t miss out! Take the survey, take part in a listening session, and be a part of it!
