Parents Association & Parents Council
The Durham Academy Parents Association supports the school's academic, social, fine arts and athletic objectives. Parents Association encourages volunteerism, raises and disperses funds, promotes communication and cooperation, and provides input to the school on issues of concern and interest to parents. All Durham Academy parents are members of the Parents Association.
The Durham Academy Parents Council is the governing board of the Parents Association. This group comprises members of an executive committee; division representatives; members of schoolwide committees on matters such as diversity, wellness and athletics; and parents who organize both community-building and fundraising events. See a list of the parents who serve on Parents Council.

Just in time for Valentine's Day weekend, the Upper School RAISE (Raising Awareness for Inclusion and Social Equity) Club is hosting a Parents’ Night Out program on Friday, Feb. 15. While their parents enjoy an evening out, children will enjoy a fun evening at school — complete with pizza, a movie, arts and crafts.
Admission is $20. The program begins at 5 p.m., and children should be picked up by 7:30 p.m. Registered students who also attend Extended Day will be walked over to Brumley Auditorium by our staff at 5 p.m.
We will show the movie Coco and have arts and crafts. Pizza and drinks will be provided. Parents may register online through the Veracross Parent Portal. Space is limited, so we encourage you to register early!
All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Sheppy Vann Preschool Fund. The fund was established in 2014 as a tribute to retiring Preschool Director Sheppy Vann, whose commitment to welcome and support students of all backgrounds helped make the Preschool an extraordinary place for our youngest students to thrive and learn. The fund provides need-based financial aid each year to students entering pre-kindergarten and kindergarten, and helps make the Preschool accessible to a wider range of students.
