Parents Association & Parents Council
The Durham Academy Parents Association supports the school's academic, social, fine arts and athletic objectives. Parents Association encourages volunteerism, raises and disperses funds, promotes communication and cooperation, and provides input to the school on issues of concern and interest to parents. All Durham Academy parents are members of the Parents Association.
The Durham Academy Parents Council is the governing board of the Parents Association. This group comprises members of an executive committee; division representatives; members of schoolwide committees on matters such as diversity, wellness and athletics; and parents who organize both community-building and fundraising events. See a list of the parents who serve on Parents Council.

Host families are needed for seven students who will be visiting Durham Academy from Beijing No. 8 High School from Jan. 27–Feb. 13. Host families should ideally have a student in the Upper School, but no member of the family need know Chinese.
The students will spend most days of their visit attending classes at school, sometimes with their host sibling, and other times with one (or one of several) “school buddies” (the idea is to lighten the burden on host siblings while at school and diversify the guests’ experience). Several local visits for the Chinese students will be organized during school hours, as well as two weekend excursions, for which the host family will need to get the guest to and from campus on one Saturday and one Sunday (they will be taking a school minibus on the excursion itself).
