Parents Association & Parents Council
The Durham Academy Parents Association supports the school's academic, social, fine arts and athletic objectives. Parents Association encourages volunteerism, raises and disperses funds, promotes communication and cooperation, and provides input to the school on issues of concern and interest to parents. All Durham Academy parents are members of the Parents Association.
The Durham Academy Parents Council is the governing board of the Parents Association. This group comprises members of an executive committee; division representatives; members of schoolwide committees on matters such as diversity, wellness and athletics; and parents who organize both community-building and fundraising events. See a list of the parents who serve on Parents Council.

Many Durham Academy families gather to package thousands of meals each Martin Luther King Day at DA's annual Rise Against Hunger event — and it's possible thanks to the generous families who make donations to purchase the food that will be packaged. Please remember this important effort in your year-end giving plans.
Rise Against Hunger (formerly known as Stop Hunger Now) works to feed men, women and especially children in famine-stricken areas of the world and is dedicated to ending hunger in the world by the year 2032.
Each year since 2010, DA has partnered with Stop Hunger Now/Rise Against Hunger and honored Martin Luther King Jr. by hosting a day of service to package 20,000 to 30,000 meals to help reach this goal. Students, parents, teachers and family members from all divisions of the school participate each year. This year’s event will take place on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Jan. 21. This year's event will be able to accommodate 175 participants, so look for information on how to sign up to participate in early January.
