Parents Association & Parents Council

The Durham Academy Parents Association supports the school's academic, social, fine arts and athletic objectives. Parents Association encourages volunteerism, raises and disperses funds, promotes communication and cooperation, and provides input to the school on issues of concern and interest to parents. All Durham Academy parents are members of the Parents Association.

The Durham Academy Parents Council is the governing board of the Parents Association. This group comprises members of an executive committee; division representatives; members of schoolwide committees on matters such as diversity, wellness and athletics; and parents who organize both community-building and fundraising events. Volunteer Leadership Center Honors 24 DA Students for Community Service

Twenty-four Durham Academy students were recognized for their community service efforts at the Triangle Nonprofit & Volunteer Leadership Center’s Tomorrow's Community Leaders ceremony on Tuesday. The program recognized students who earned the Commissioner’s Award, Mayor's Award and President's Volunteer Service Award. Several DA students were recognized with more than one award.

Five DA students earned Commissioner’s Awards, which are given in recognition of at least 50 hours of service during the school year with local nonprofits registered with the Triangle Nonprofit & Volunteer Leadership Center. The following students earned Commissioner’s Awards for community service completed during the 2017–2018 school year:

Nineteen DA students earned Mayor's Awards, which are given in recognition of at least 60 hours of community service during the summer with local nonprofits registered with the Triangle Nonprofit & Volunteer Leadership Center. The following students earned Mayor's Awards for service completed during the 2018 summer break:
