Parents Association & Parents Council
The Durham Academy Parents Association supports the school's academic, social, fine arts and athletic objectives. Parents Association encourages volunteerism, raises and disperses funds, promotes communication and cooperation, and provides input to the school on issues of concern and interest to parents. All Durham Academy parents are members of the Parents Association.
The Durham Academy Parents Council is the governing board of the Parents Association. This group comprises members of an executive committee; division representatives; members of schoolwide committees on matters such as diversity, wellness and athletics; and parents who organize both community-building and fundraising events. See a list of the parents who serve on Parents Council.

The entire Durham Academy community — students, parents, siblings, faculty and staff — is invited to attend the All-School Picnic, set for Sunday, Oct. 21, from 4 to 7 p.m. on the Lower School grounds. For new families and old, the All-School Picnic — to be held rain or shine — is a great way to meet members of the DA community, reconnect with old friends and enjoy a Sunday afternoon.
This annual event has a fun sports and carnival atmosphere, with activities for all ages:
- Inflatable slide and obstacle course
- Basketball and gaga competitions
- Face painting
- Crafts with the Scrap Exchange (4–6 p.m.)
- Soccer and lacrosse competitions
- Musical performance by DA Upper School a cappella group XIV Hours
Feel free to pack a picnic for the afternoon or support the local food trucks that will be on hand. Covered seating, popcorn and water are provided.
