Parents Association & Parents Council

The Durham Academy Parents Association supports the school's academic, social, fine arts and athletic objectives. Parents Association encourages volunteerism, raises and disperses funds, promotes communication and cooperation, and provides input to the school on issues of concern and interest to parents. All Durham Academy parents are members of the Parents Association.

The Durham Academy Parents Council is the governing board of the Parents Association. This group comprises members of an executive committee; division representatives; members of schoolwide committees on matters such as diversity, wellness and athletics; and parents who organize both community-building and fundraising events. Awards recognize seniors' excellence in academics, athletics and service

Twenty-two members of Durham Academy's Class of 2018 were honored for success in all facets of campus life, including academics, arts, athletics and service at the senior awards assembly on May 24. 

Special recognition awards included the following:

- Ginny Buckner Award: Scarlett Reade

- George Watts Hill Community Service Award: David Klein and Josh Klein

- Frank Hawkins Kenan Medal: Scott Hallyburton

- Elizabeth Adams Old Award: Kenan Ulku-Steiner

- Scott Jameson Filston Award: Kendall Bushick

- Head of School Award: Cami Simpson 

- Senior Deans' Award: Lauren Thompson and Alex Charles

- Senior Spirit Award: Lillia Larson
