Parents Association & Parents Council
The Durham Academy Parents Association supports the school's academic, social, fine arts and athletic objectives. Parents Association encourages volunteerism, raises and disperses funds, promotes communication and cooperation, and provides input to the school on issues of concern and interest to parents. All Durham Academy parents are members of the Parents Association.
The Durham Academy Parents Council is the governing board of the Parents Association. This group comprises members of an executive committee; division representatives; members of schoolwide committees on matters such as diversity, wellness and athletics; and parents who organize both community-building and fundraising events. Parents Bulletin Board
The Upper School's Rise Against Hunger Club will hold a car wash on Friday, June 1, from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Lower School parking lot (by Brumley Performing Arts Building). The event will serve as a fundraiser for Rise Against Hunger, the international hunger relief organization with which Durham Academy partners for the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service meal-packaging event each January.
Club members will wash vehicles for $10 each, and car owners will be provided with cold bottles of water to enjoy while they wait. Please note that this fundraiser was originally scheduled for May 25 but has been postponed due to the threat of rain.
