Parents Association & Parents Council

The Durham Academy Parents Association supports the school's academic, social, fine arts and athletic objectives. Parents Association encourages volunteerism, raises and disperses funds, promotes communication and cooperation, and provides input to the school on issues of concern and interest to parents. All Durham Academy parents are members of the Parents Association.

The Durham Academy Parents Council is the governing board of the Parents Association. This group comprises members of an executive committee; division representatives; members of schoolwide committees on matters such as diversity, wellness and athletics; and parents who organize both community-building and fundraising events. Used Book Sale volunteers and Bake Sale items needed

It's time to make room on your bookshelves; the Used Book Sale and Bake Sale is next week! The sale — with thousands of books available in nearly every genre imaginable — will be open to the DA community Thursday, April 19, and Friday, April, 20 (7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. both days), and to the public Saturday, April 21, from 9 a.m. to noon.

All books will be priced at $1 or $2, and baked goods will be priced from $0.50 to $2.

Want to volunteer?

This fun community event and important Parents Association fundraiser is possible because of incredible parent volunteers, and there are a number of ways in which you can help.

You can volunteer for a number of roles, from moving, sorting and organizing books prior to the sale, to serving as a cashier or table helper during the sale. You can see all of the volunteer slots and sign up here.

Want to donate items for the bake sale?

We welcome individually packaged baked goods, as well as prepackaged store-bought snacks. Single-serving beverages (Gatorades, juice boxes and Izze drinks are favorites) are also welcome!

Please drop your donations off curbside at the Lower School or Middle School from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday or Wednesday. Or you can bring your donations directly to the Middle School gym during the school day beginning Tuesday.
