Parents Association & Parents Council

The Durham Academy Parents Association supports the school's academic, social, fine arts and athletic objectives. Parents Association encourages volunteerism, raises and disperses funds, promotes communication and cooperation, and provides input to the school on issues of concern and interest to parents. All Durham Academy parents are members of the Parents Association.

The Durham Academy Parents Council is the governing board of the Parents Association. This group comprises members of an executive committee; division representatives; members of schoolwide committees on matters such as diversity, wellness and athletics; and parents who organize both community-building and fundraising events. Online Auction is April 4 to 7

Be sure to check out the items available at da.org/auction so you’ll be ready to bid when the auction goes live on April 4!

The Online Auction runs from April 4 to 7, and we’ll be reaching out to different groups of DA community members during those days so you won’t forget to bid on that favorite weekend getaway, beach vacation, sporting event, class art project or fun experience with a favorite teacher!

What do I need to do to be ready for April 4?

Prior to April 4, take a moment to create your profile and enter your credit card information on BidPal.

  • You can do that online at da.org/auction.
  • Or you can download the BidPal app from iTunes or Google Play to search for, bid on, and watch items you’re interested in right from your smartphone or tablet!

If you have never used the BidPal app before, here’s a short video that explains how the app works and its key features.

During registration, BidPal will ask for a phone number so that you can receive notifications during the auction if you have been outbid on an item you’re interested in. BidPal will send a text one week before the auction with instructions about how to opt out of texts if you do not want to receive them.

Until then — feel free to browse and set your sights on some of your favorite auction items!

This year's auction doesn't center around a party, but don't let that stop you from hosting one of your own! A Saturday-evening bidding event with DA friends would be a fun way to support this important fundraiser. (Remember that the auction closes at 10 p.m. on April 7.)

Why should I support the Online Auction?

The auction is DA Parents Association’s biggest single fundraising event of the year, and funds raised during the auction provide 85 percent or more of Parents Association’s annual budget. The dollars you spend on auction items and packages help Parents Association support outstanding teaching and exceptional student experiences!

Every year, Parents Association supports student enrichment events, faculty wish list items, schoolwide community-building events, capital initiatives and faculty endowment initiatives, just to name a few.
