Parents Association & Parents Council

The Durham Academy Parents Association supports the school's academic, social, fine arts and athletic objectives. Parents Association encourages volunteerism, raises and disperses funds, promotes communication and cooperation, and provides input to the school on issues of concern and interest to parents. All Durham Academy parents are members of the Parents Association.

The Durham Academy Parents Council is the governing board of the Parents Association. This group comprises members of an executive committee; division representatives; members of schoolwide committees on matters such as diversity, wellness and athletics; and parents who organize both community-building and fundraising events. WISER A Cappella Jam set for March 23
Posted 03/07/2018 03:00PM

The 11th annual WISER A Cappella Jam is returning to the place where it all started — the Durham Academy campus — after rocking downtown Durham's Carolina Theatre for the past couple of years. The concert — featuring groups from Chapel Hill, UNC and DA — is set for Friday, March 23, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in Kenan Auditorium.

The A Cappella Jam is a fundraiser for WISER (Women's Institute of Secondary Education & Research), an organization founded at Duke University to improve the health and education of women in the Muhuru Bay area of Kenya. Durham Academy's WISER Club is proud of its affiliation with the organization and proud to have been able to raise a significant amount of funds for WISER.
