Middle School Intramural Sports
Fun and teamwork — not wins and losses — are the names of the game in the fifth- and sixth-grade intramural sports program. There is some teaching of skills, but fun, good sportsmanship and students' bonding with their advisories are the primary goals. All teams are coed, and each advisory fields a team.
- Fall: Volleyball
- Spring: Kickball
Games are played after school, and all advisories play one another within the grade level at least once each season.
In addition to regularly scheduled volleyball and kickball games, both sixth and fifth grades participate in a field day each December. This afternoon of friendly competition takes place during the regular school day. After learning about track and field events in physical education class, students sign up for two or three events in which to compete — from the long jump and softball throw, to a host of foot races (with plenty of dance breaks scattered in between).
