Basketball - Varsity Boys vs. Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School

Event Type: Regular

Date: November 17, 2017

Event Recap:
Junior Bryant Randleman had career highs of 30 points and 15 rebounds to lead the DA boys over Rabun Gap 75-63 Friday night before a packed CavDome crowd in Kirby Gym.  Randleman was 13-18 from the field including making his last 10 field goals as the Cavs rallied from ten down in the third quarter for a key NCISAA 3A win against a strong Eagles team.  Senior Charlie Mendys had 15 points while senior Jack McCallie added 11 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.  Junior Michael Savarino chipped in with 9 points, 2 boards and 6 assists.  Much liked the Cavs second half run in Tuesday night's win over Jordan, DA started making threes left and right to turn an 8 point deficit into a 7 point lead after the third quarter.  The Cavs scored the first 13 points of the third quarter in just over two minutes time to erase an eight point halftime deficit and finished off a 19-5 run thanks to threes by Randleman, Mendys, McCallie and both Michael and Joey Savarino.  The Eagles used some long range shooting of their own and tough play inside to retake a 61-60 lead over the Cavs with about 4 minutes to go.  DA would end the game on a 15-2 run as Rabun Gap missed nine of their final ten shots and the Cavs went 12-18 from the line in the final few minutes.  Overall, DA shot 50% from the field and outrebounded the bigger Eagles 32-25.  The Cavs are now 4-1 heading into Tuesday's showdown with Voyager Academy.
