Basketball - Varsity Boys vs. Jordan High School

Event Type: Regular

Date: November 14, 2017

Event Recap:
DA used hot second half shooting to defeat 4A public school Jordan High 64-54 Tuesday night in Kirby Gym.  Despite being separated by only four miles, this is the first matchup between the two schools in the Tim McKenna era.  After missing his first four shots, junior Michael Savarino hit all five of his second half threes to lead the Cavs with 19 points.  Senior Charlie Mendys was 4-5 from deep for 14 points and seven rebounds.  Senior Jack McCallie had a strong effort with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.  The Cavs shot 12-24 from three point range and were 6-9 in the second half as everytime Jordan got close, DA would hit a big shot.  The Falcons used their toughness inside and second chance scoring to keep the game close in the first half.  DA led 30-25 at halftime, but a 23-16 third quarter put DA up double-digits headed to the fourth.  Senior Tyler Carpenter added eight points, five rebounds and three assists off the bench and despite foul trouble junior Bryant Randleman had four points, four rebounds and two assists as well as great defense late in the game.  DA is 3-1 and will host 3A opponent Rabun Gap on Friday night.
