Event Recap:

The DA girls tennis team moved through to the finals of the FTA HS tournament with a thrilling 4-2 win over SC private school power Porter Gaud.  Playing their second match of the day in grueling heat, the Cavs quickly took leads on the back courts.  Junior Joy Callwood, playing a top 100 national player on court 1 and sophomore Alexis Galloway, playing a top 200 national player on court 2 both fought hard and played strong tennis in defeat.  Callwood trailed 4-6 but took a 4-1 lead in the second before falling to the heat at 5-5 in the second set.  Galloway led 3-1 in the second before losing 6-1, 6-3.  The second doubles team of captains Riepl and King took a decisive 6-0, 6-0 win for DA's first point.  Madeline Towning took a 6-1, 6-2 win on court 3.  Renee George was tough as always on court 4 as she won four no-ad deuce points in her 6-2, 6-3 win.  Taylor Hunter was the clincher as she took her match 6-2, 6-1.  DA plays NCISAA 2A state champ St. David's in the championship match Sunday at 1030 am
