Soccer - Varsity Boys vs. Riverside High School

Event Type: Regular

Date: August 23, 2017

Event Recap:
Sophomores Will Nichols and Ryan Kirschner scored four minutes a part late in the second half as the DA boys soccer team remained unbeaten with a 2-1 win at Riverside High.  Despite controlling possession for the entire first half, the Cavs went to the break trailing 1-0 as the Pirates scored a pretty goal with just four minutes left in the half.  Senior Carter Owen, who assisted on both DA goals, had the Cavs best first half chance as he hit the nearside post on a 15 yard shot just five minutes into the game.  DA had a few chances in the second half but it wasn't until Nichols deflected an Owen shot with 15 minutes left in the game for the Cavs first goal.  DA kept the momentum and Kirschner was able to pound home a rebound from point blank range after a great shot by Owen with 11 minutes left.  The DA defense kept the Pirates from having any strong chances in the final ten minutes to end the game.  The Cavs are now 2-0-1.
