Soccer - Varsity Boys vs. Greensboro Day School

Event Type: Regular

Date: September 8, 2017

Event Recap:
The DA boys soccer team remain unbeaten at 5-0-1 following Friday night's 5-1 win over Greensboro Day on Alumni Field.  The Cavs used a second half offensive explosion and some pretty goals to pull away the Bengals.  Despite controlling play for most of the first half, it wasnt until the 35th minute until the Cavs got on the board.  Sophomore Ryan Kirschner scored the first of his two goals on the night off a pretty pass from senior Carter Owen.  Senior Kenan Ulku-Steiner had one of his many "hockey assists" on the night as his pass to Owen started the play.  DA would then score three times in a seven minute stretch early in the second half to break the game open.  The first of the three was a highlight reel goal as sophomore Will Nichols executed a diving header into the back of the net off a feed from sophomore Isaiah Caldwell.  The next goal was by Owen from Ulku-Steiner and goal number four was Kirschner again off a terrific play from junior Nick Epstein.  After GDS scored with about 18 minutes left, DA would add their fifth goal as Owen rammed home a ball off an Epstein corner.  Once again, the DA defense anchored by keeper Roberto Escobar played great soccer and the Cavs enter next week's conference opener with Ravenscroft unbeaten.
