Jeff Crumbliss '92, a Durham Academy alumnus and clinical social worker, addressed a crowd of Lower School parents at a parent coffee May 19, armed with tips on helping them navigate the summer months with their children.
In his talk, titled "How to Create Structure and Foster Growth and Connection in the Summer Months," Crumbliss advised parents to continue to create routines for their children during the summer break and to "praise effort rather than ability."
Crumbliss holds a faculty appointment in the Duke University Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He previously held an academic appointment in the Columbia University School of Social Work, while serving as Director of Social Work Internship Training at Bellevue Hospital Center in New York City.
