Extended Day Substitute (part-time, as needed)

Durham Academy is seeking dedicated, energetic, experienced and creative people to be available to substitute in the Extended Day program for pre-K to eighth grade.

This person will spend their time guiding and observing play and facilitating healthy emotional and social relationships in a fun, non-structured setting. Regular duties include developing trusting relationships with children, parents and teachers; preparing snacks; using and organizing materials for the classroom and outdoor space; preparing activities and/or games; setting up the classroom; tracking attendance; and supervising and/or assisting with study hall, enrichment classes and more.

The successful candidate must feel comfortable keeping open lines of communication with the children, families, coworkers and other faculty members in the school. This is a part-time, as needed position with a general potential schedule of 2:45–5:45 p.m., Monday to Friday. There is an expectation of work on certain days when there is no school and we have children in our care. CPR and first aid certification is recommended.

This position will report to the Extended Day director.
