Durham Academy Summer Takes A Fresh Approach to Camps
Video by Jesse Paddock
The Durham Academy Summer team has envisioned a fresh approach to DA Summer for 2021 — a transformative all-day camp experience that keeps campers close to home but feeling far away as they gain independence and confidence. Since registration opened in early December, feedback from families has been overwhelmingly positive, with 150 campers registered for a total of 513 weeks of programming.
DA Summer 2021 comprises three distinct programs:
-
Camp Evergreen (ages 3–11): DA's first all-day camp with a schedule that's convenient for working parents — with a wide array of activities reminiscent of classic overnight camps, but that allows campers to return every evening to the comforts of home.
-
Summer Institute (ages 12–18): DA's first all-day, deep-dive option for older campers. Whether it's passion projects or academic enrichments, campers can spend the summer pursuing engaging, intellectual and experiential adventures.
-
Night Camp (ages 10–14): DA's first under-the-stars camp for kids with evening programs for fine and performing arts, athletics and astronomy. Take the week off from cooking if you sign up for Night Camp, because dinner is part of the menu of activities that makes this program so appealing!
