In The Pocket Rise Against Hunger Benefit Concert is Nov. 3

In The Pocket is excited to present the annual Rise Against Hunger benefit concert — ITP's first big concert of the year, Saturday, Nov. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in Kenan Auditorium! This year’s iteration of ITP is the fullest instrumentation and sound they’ve had in years, with the typical soul band horn line as well as a string and woodwind section. The group is eager to share songs with the DA community that take advantage of the full ensemble.

As always, ITP is proud to partner with DA’s Rise Against Hunger Club for this annual benefit concert. The concert serves as Rise Against Hunger’s biggest fundraiser each year toward Durham Academy’s meal-packaging event on the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service in January. There is no admission fee for the concert, but members of the Rise Against Hunger Club will be in the lobby during the show selling snacks, drinks, and ITP and XIV Hours merchandise, with all proceeds (as well as monetary donations) benefiting the meal-packaging event directly.

In addition to everything going on in the auditorium and lobby during the show, DA’s Kidznotes Club, led by In The Pocket cellist Spencer Adler ’19, is running a used instrument drive during the month of November. Kidznotes Club will be set up in the lobby as well, accepting gently used instruments that can be cleaned up and used in Kidznotes’ after-school music program for youth from low-income and at-risk backgrounds.

Join ITP, Rise Against Hunger Club, and Kidznotes Club for a delightful evening of music and TWO fantastic causes! See you in Kenan!
