Middle School After-School Programs

Our Middle School after-school program is a free-flowing, relaxed atmosphere where kids have a chance to be with their friends after a busy day. We provide many active, gaming and creative opportunities that support students’ growing friendships, coping skills and independence.

Middle School students may attend Extended Day from 3:10–6 p.m., which includes the opportunity to complete their homework as well as play and be with friends. After-School Enrichment options are also available from 3:30–4:30 p.m. (unless otherwise noted).

If you need care on a day when school is not in session due to parent conferences or faculty work days, we offer All-Day Care. These days are filled with lots of fun activities and allow working parents to better manage their schedules.

Extended Day

Extended Day students transition to the Middle School Extended Day room independently at 3:10 p.m. Students are provided time for a snack and have an opportunity to unwind before doing their homework or staying to play in Extended Day. Middle School students may be enrolled in Extended Day for five days per week or may drop in to Extended Day as needed. For questions about Middle School Extended Day, please contact Zakia Vanhoose.

Students with a five-day Extended Day contract may attend Extended Day on the four All-Day Care days and the four early dismissal days at no additional charge.

After-School Enrichments

After-School Enrichments at the Middle School offer a deeper dive into students’ interests with physical, intellectual, and creative outlets. These classes are intended to be an exploration of a creative subject or sport without goals of deep study or mastery — although physical and mental resilience and contentedness may result. Offerings may include piano, guitar, trumpet, cello, violin, flute, clarinet, saxophone, STEM/STEAM, chess, art, theatre, chess, yoga and more.

Middle School students enjoy After-School Enrichments from 3:30–4:30 p.m. (unless otherwise noted). After school, they independently go to the classroom where the after-school enrichment is located. Extended Day drop-in after an enrichment is $20.

All-Day Care and Half-Day Care

If you need childcare on a day when school is not in session due to parent conferences or faculty work days, we offer All-Day Care. We also provide care for children on Early Dismissal Days. These days are filled with lots of fun activities and allow working parents to better manage their schedules.

All-Day Care

On All-Day Care days, we open our doors at 8 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. Please remember to sign your children in and out when you arrive and at pick-up. No advance notice to attend is required; simply show up and sign in.

On Half-Day Care days, we will run the program as usual but with an earlier opening time. Please notify your child’s teacher and email dan.gilson@da.org if you would like to drop in on these half days.
