| Students dive into documentary films at Full Frame Festival With the best in documentary film screened practically right in Durham Academy's backyard at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival each year, the downtown Durham festival has become a rite of spring for many DA students and faculty. Sixteen Upper School spring seminar participants attended the festival for two full days, and nine members of the Upper School Diversity Club took in the festival for a day. Read More Snail mail and new media: 7th-graders advocate for change Durham Academy seventh-grader Alex Bayer recently wrote a letter to George Erwin, the director of the North Carolina Association of Chiefs of Police. Concerned about the deaths and injuries caused by drunk drivers, Alex asked Mr. Erwin to do what he could to support more DUI checkpoints and other measures. In his prompt response, Mr. Erwin agreed with Alex’s ideas and praised her commitment to change, calling her “very insightful” and predicting that he would be “hearing a lot more about Alex Bayer in the future.” Read More David Cutcliffe will speak at Class of 2015 commencement Award-winning Duke football coach and Durham Academy dad David Cutcliffe will give the keynote address at Durham Academy's 41st commencement exercises. "I get to perform and do what I love, and on this night, doing what I love helps raise money for another thing I love to do, which is SOCK Camp," the DA senior said of the music group's annual benefit for SOCK — Serving Our Community's Kids.
