COVID-19 Recent News & Updates

Health Update: Jan. 14

Dear Colleagues, Families, and Students,

Today we learned that a DA staff member (who has been primarily working remotely) has tested positive for COVID-19. This person was last on campus on January 6 and first symptomatic on January 12. The person was tested yesterday, received results today, and is following all DA and Durham County Department of Public Health guidelines for isolation and return to the community. HIPAA laws and CDC/DHHS guidelines limit what Durham Academy is able to share publicly.

No students, faculty or staff were identified by DA as potential close contacts.

Once again, prompt and responsible communication from the person involved has helped us assess the situation and continue to mitigate risk on our campus.

We are grateful to everyone for reviewing and following the terms of the DA Community Health Compact and our Health and Safety Protocols

In the event of a positive diagnosis in any household, please contact Gem Gates immediately at health@da.org or 919-493-5787 X6513.

Best,

Gem Gates, Nurse Consultant
