STEP INSIDE THE MIDDLE SCHOOL

Arts & World Languages Center

A spacious, light-filled art studio and soundproofed rehearsal studios for band, chorus and theatre support experiential learning essential to the DA experience.

The new band studio supports a core element of the Middle School instrumental music program, in which all fifth- and sixth-graders learn how to play an instrument in just 12 weeks.

All students learn to play a wind instrument in grades 5 and 6, and they can choose a year-long elective in percussion or wind ensemble to fulfill their fine arts requirement in grades 7 and 8.

Students can now utilize a large rehearsal space with soundproofed individual rooms, and store their instruments in close proximity to Horton Hall for practices and performances.

All students participate in chorus in grades 5 and 6, and they can choose a year-long elective in vocal ensemble to fulfill their fine arts requirement in grades 7 and 8.

The new chorus studio gives students an expansive new space to experience a pillar of the Middle School arts program. Students have the benefit of a large open area for ensemble work and soundproofed individual rooms for rehearsals.

Horton Hall Performing Arts Center

Horton Hall is the new heart of campus, with adaptable configurations to be able to host live performances, rehearsals, student assemblies and community events.

Gateway Center & Quad

The Gateway Center welcomes visitors to the Middle School. For the first time, all grade levels of history, math and science will be housed together, creating collaborative opportunities for teachers and students. Adjacent to the Gateway Center will be a quad, which will include an outdoor classroom, a multitude of seating options (including a terraced gathering space) and dual roller slides.

Gymnasium & Extended Day Center

A regulation-size gym for competition and practice supports the growth of Middle School athletes and increases space for PE classes and after school programming.
