Virtually surrounded by coaches, teammates, teachers and friends — and with an abundance of hugs and high-fives from family members at home — six Durham Academy seniors committed to continue their athletic careers in college on Wednesday.
Spring sports have kicked off for the 2020 season, and the Cavaliers have a lot to build off of from last year. Eleven individual All-Conference selections will be returning to compete this spring, and multiple teams that saw postseason action in 2019 have their sights set on runs in the state tournament.
Toby Harris and Cole Sinclair are named to the NCISAA All-State team. Four members of the boys hoops team and two members of the girls team earn conference honors.

All of the winter varsity teams will be entering postseason play within the next week, and we hope that we can pack Kirby Gym, as both basketball teams anticipate hosting state tournament games next week.
The boys team would win the TISAC championship with a victory over Cary Academy, and the girls team can move to the top half of the league standings by topping CA. Swimmers are competing today in the TISAC meet.

Six alumni were inducted into Durham Academy’s Athletic Hall of Fame on Dec. 6. This marks the fourth class of inductees for the Athletic Hall of Fame, which was established in 2013 and taps new members every other year.
It’s a busy two days for DA athletics, with the girls and boys swim teams hosting their one home meet today at 5:30 p.m. at Campus Hills and girls and boys basketball teams taking on Trinity School at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. tomorrow in Kirby Gym.
Conference standings are on the line tomorrow, with the DA boys hoops team hoping to claim sole possession of first place in the TISAC. The varsity girls team is looking for their first conference win after falling to North Raleigh Christian Academy in their TISAC opener.
Girls basketball is in Charlotte this weekend for the She Got Game Classic. The boys team competes at Hilton Head this weekend and in Raleigh’s prestigious John Wall Holiday Invitational next weekend.
