At Durham Academy, we see the power of art to transform lives every day. The exploration and practice of art encourages an individual's growth and deepens their understanding of the human experience. The creation of art transforms both our brains and our bodies.
If you are a student with an interest in the arts, you will flourish at Durham Academy — and if you have less exposure to the arts, you will discover disciplines that nourish your creativity.
Durham Academy arts faculty — representing Pre-K to Grade 12 — have set the following goals for each of our students:
Actively engage in the arts.
Solve problems both independently and collaboratively.
Experiment and take risks to conceive, develop and express artistic ideas.
Communicate ideas about and respond authentically to art in an informed manner.
Connect artistic ideas and works with societal, cultural and historical context to deepen understanding of the human experience.
