Middle School Physical Education Curriculum

We want our students to understand the importance of physical activity in maintaining a healthy, physically active way of living. We provide our students a wide range of developmentally appropriate activities that promote physical, social and emotional growth. We strive to have all students active, engaged and feeling successful while emphasizing kindness, cooperation and respect for one another.

Middle School Physical Education Course Offerings

Physical Education 5 & 6

This class will focus on students’ physical fitness and wellness. Students will be exposed to developmentally appropriate activities that will emphasize fundamental skills, game concepts, competition and sportsmanship. We will provide our students a wide range of activities that promote physical, social and emotional growth with the goal of keeping students active, engaged, and feeling competent and confident. Students will be exposed to activities that involve personal physical fitness, striking, net/wall games, cooperative challenges, recreational/lifestyle games, rhythmic activities and throwing/receiving.

Physical Education — Lifelong Fitness and Activities: Grades 7 & 8

In Physical Education, students engage in a wide range of activities that build a foundation for lifelong physical literacy and wellness. A central focus of this course is how individuals show up in groups — how personal choices, behaviors, and attitudes influence the experience and success of the whole team.
