What’s Camp Evergreen All About?

Camp Evergreen (ages 3–11): DA’s first all-day camp with a schedule that’s convenient for working parents, with a wide array of activities reminiscent of classic overnight camps, and campers who return every evening to the comforts of home.

Camp Evergreen

Do you remember summer camps when you were young? Did you attend a day camp or overnight camp you just loved? It seems that in today’s modern world, the simple, beautiful aspects of what made those camps great have been pushed to the margins. If you’re looking for a camp experience that brings back some of that classic feel, you’ll find it at Camp Evergreen.

Durham Academy Summer developed Camp Evergreen as a nod to our green and white colors and to our school yearbook title, with those classic camp memories in mind. We encourage campers to try new things, explore new interests and develop lifelong skills. Our innovative curriculum and diverse camp programming make each day unique and stimulating. Camp Evergreen provides a well-rounded, fun, safe and inclusive learning environment that empowers and challenges old and new campers in an action-packed summer with newly established fun traditions such as tie-dying camp T-shirts, a counselors’ kickball game, water play, a fun zipline, and daily camp meetings with skits, birthday celebrations, camp flag duty and our moral messages.

Our DA Summer team — comprising DA faculty members, alumni and current Upper School students — leads campers each day on a learning adventure with four unique daily rotations. Campers are able to request a friend in the same “cabin” (which is their group for the week); while we will facilitate friends being together, we also work hard to make sure campers are given the right tools and platforms to improve their social skills to make new lifelong friends and strengthen networks.
