The entire Durham Academy community — students of all ages, parents, faculty, staff and alumni — is invited to gather the evening of Feb. 23 for DA’s first-ever Sustain-In. It’s an opportunity to work together to learn about our school’s carbon emissions and develop creative solutions to reduce them.
Feb. 23, 5–10 p.m. – family-friendly events in the Upper School STEM & Humanities Center:
-
Receive an introduction to DA’s carbon emissions report compiled by Green Places in fall 2022.
-
Join in on a variety of activities, including topical workshops (including transportation, culture and behavioral norms, electricity, biodiversity, and food/solid waste), crafts, games, environmental-themed movies and presentations.
Feb. 23/24, 10 p.m.–7 a.m. – lock-in for Upper Schoolers willing to go the distance in generating ideas into the wee hours in an overnight adventure!
-
Upper School student participants and faculty chaperones will continue to work on developing their solution proposals and compiling reports to be reviewed by judges the next day. The winning report will be implemented at DA, and the creators will be at the forefront of innovation at DA!
