Seniors Earn National Merit Commendation, Recognition as National African American Scholars

Twelve Durham Academy seniors have been recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation as commended students in the 66th annual National Merit Scholarship Program, and three others have been named National African American Scholars by the College Board.

Students receiving letters of commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation were chosen by virtue of their performance on the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Commended DA seniors include the following:

  • Molly McLaughlin
  • Ryan Norris
  • Charlie Robb
  • Jake Schwartz
  • Will Scurria

To be selected for the National African American Recognition Program, a student must excel on the PSAT/NMSQT, have a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 by the middle of their junior year and identify as African American. DA’s National African American Scholars include the following:
