In this unprecedented school year, Durham Academy Giving Day — set for Tuesday, April 27 — has taken on a new level of meaning and importance. Faculty and staff have poured themselves into their jobs in ways no one could have imagined 14 months ago. And with students and teachers being on campus without unplanned interruptions since August, the school has spent more than $1 million to keep students learning as successfully and safely as possible.
“This is the year more than any before that gratitude is appropriate and needed and appreciated,” Head of School Michael Ulku-Steiner said. “This would be the year that we have to say thank you to everybody who has made this year happen.”
DA Giving Day is a 24-hour fundraising event in which all corners of the DA community — from parents and grandparents, to teachers and alumni — come together to show their support for the school. If 1,111 donors make a gift, a $25,000 challenge gift will be unlocked.
Your gift of any size counts toward the goal. And you can multiply your impact by helping to spread the word about Giving Day among friends, fellow Cavaliers and followers.
At da.org/givingday, you will find a plethora of collateral for sharing on social media; you can download Giving Day logos, a selfie sign and a GIF — and there’s a link to add a Giving Day Facebook frame to your profile picture. You can also record and submit a selfie video for explaining why you’re supporting Giving Day; look for instructions and tips at da.org/givingday.
So mark your calendar for “One Day. One DA.” on April 27!
