Garrett Road Rivalry: A New Tradition Begins

Durham Academy and C.E. Jordan High School have long considered each other on-field adversaries. But the Cavaliers and Falcons have never had a singular competition to settle the score. Until now.

Welcome to the Garrett Road Rivalry presented by BSN Sports — coming this fall.

The Rivalry

DA and Jordan have shared a lasting connection off the field — a four-mile stretch of Garrett Road — and on, where the Cavaliers and Falcons have engaged in spirited games, matches and meets. This fall, the Garrett Road Rivalry will formalize an enduring legacy of interscholastic competition between DA and Jordan.

The Competition

The annual competition will feature 20 athletics events in which the Cavaliers and Falcons will play each other over the course of each school year. The winning school in each event will earn one point toward a running total that encompasses the fall, winter and spring seasons. The school with the most head-to-head victories at the conclusion of the athletics calendar year will be declared the winner of the Garrett Road Rivalry. The annual winner will also retain possession of the rivalry’s signature trophy until it relinquishes the title.

The Fans

Student-athletes will define this rivalry with their soaring excellence and prevailing sportsmanship. But doing so amid a raucous, respectful atmosphere wouldn’t be possible without you! Your Cavaliers need you to pack the stands and bring the energy for ALL of our Olympic sports on the field, court, track, diamond, course — even at the pool. And you won’t have to wait long to cheer on your Cavs: The Garrett Road Rivalry will feature six head-to-head matchups near the start of the fall athletics season.
