Cavs Corner, Sept. 14

Fall Team Updates

Varsity Cross-Country

The Cavaliers took first in both boys and girls meets Wednesday vs. St. David’s School and Saint Mary’s School. Audrey Crowder ’26 and Angus Cook ’25 led the way for a second-straight week. The Cavs host North Raleigh Christian Academy next Thursday in another TISAC (Triangle Independent Schools Athletic Conference) showdown.

Varsity Field Hockey

The Cavs fell to Ravenscroft School as they opened conference play Tuesday, but they bounced back Wednesday with a 3-0 win vs. Jordan High School. Avery Hilton ’27 led the way, scoring the first two goals of the game! The Cavs hit the road on Tuesday as they visit Cary Academy.

Varsity Girls Golf

The Cavs won their second match of the season Tuesday as they took down Cary Academy, 111–124. The Cavs are currently 2–0, with a pair of conference wins against Ravenscroft and Cary Academy. They head to South Carolina this weekend to participate in the Palmetto tournament.

Varsity Boys Soccer

The varsity boys soccer team was tied 0–0 at halftime in its home match Tuesday vs. Cary Academy when heavy rain forced a postponement. The match will resume play at a later date. The Cavs, who are 7–1 on the year, head to Chapel Hill today before returning home Sept. 19 for “Donut Tuesday,” when they face East Chapel Hill.

Varsity Girls Tennis

After having matches canceled Friday and Saturday, the girls tennis team defeated Ravenscroft, 5–2, on Tuesday. The last two scheduled matches were canceled due to inclement weather. The win continued an impressive conference run for the Cavs, who have now won 55 of their last 56 TISAC matches. They visit East Chapel Hill on Thursday for the completion of a suspended match from Aug. 29.

Varsity Volleyball

The Cavs hit a bumpy patch this week, dropping two matches to bring their record to 7–7.  The Cavs fell to Ravenscroft on the road Tuesday and to N.C. School of Science and Math in five sets at home on Wednesday. The Cavs will get some rest before they host Cary Academy for “Donut Tuesday” on Sept. 19!
