Spring Blood Drive is Feb. 20–21
At a time when the nation's blood banks at at the lowest they've been in many years — with the lowest number of people donating in the last 20 years — your donation matters more than ever. You can do your part to help save lives Tuesday, Feb. 20, and Wednesday, Feb. 21, at Durham Academy’s annual spring blood drive. The event will be held in the lobby of Kirby Gym on the Upper School campus from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days.
Sign up for your slot via the Red Cross website. Parents, faculty, and students 16 and older are eligible to donate.
Donors who are 16 must bring a signed parental consent form and photo ID. Those 17 and older do not need a consent form but must bring a photo ID. Donors should be in general good health and weigh at least 110 pounds. Learn about other eligibility requirements on the Red Cross website. If you have been ineligible to donate in the past, you may find that you are now able to donate — thanks to eligibility changes for those who spent time in Europe and elimination of questions based on gender and sexual orientation.
Spring student-athletes are not eligible to donate for health and safety reasons.
Each pint of blood donated can save up to three lives. Plus, donors will be offered Amazon gift cards and snacks after they donate. This drive is organized by the Upper School’s Red Cross Club.
