
Girls Golf
The three-time defending state champs head into Monday’s TISAC championship in second place in the conference and sixth overall in the NCISAA D1 Rankings. Jenna Kim '27 is at the top of the individual state rankings once again as she will be trying to win her fourth straight individual state championship next week in Greensboro. Kenzie Kim '26 and Lilly Jones '26 will join Kim at the state tournament, each earning 26th place and 30th place, respectively.

Field Hockey
The Cavaliers field hockey team finished the regular season 10-7 and 5-3 in the TISAC, good for second place. The No. 7-seeded Cavs took down a strong East Chapel Hill team last Thursday on Senior Night by a 3-1 score. Logan Freedman '26 (two) and Caroline Kantz '26 were the goal scorers in the win over the Wildcats. The Cavs will host the first round of the state tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 4 p.m. on Moylan Field in a matchup against Forsyth Country Day.

Volleyball
The DA volleyball team finished its regular season 12-7 and in second place in the TISAC with a 5-3 record. After an intense 15-13 fifth-set win at Ravenscroft on Oct. 3, the Cavs ended with tough four-set losses to both NRCA and Cary Academy. Mailyn Moore '26 leads the team in kills and blocks, while Hayley Skye '27 is the team leader in assists. The Cavs earned the No. 5 seed in the state tournament and get a rematch with Cary Academy on Tuesday at 5 p.m. as they host the first round of the state tournament at Kirby Gym.

Boys Soccer
The DA boys soccer team takes a 14-game win streak into Tuesday’s opening round of the state tournament. The Cavs won their fifth consecutive TISAC title — going 31-3 in league play during that span — and dispatched Thales-Apex in Friday's 7-0 victory on Senior Night. Gavin Lamb '26 and Curry Jennings '26 each scored a hat trick in Friday’s win, while seniors Jack Rand '26 and Quinlan Vorenkamp '26 each added two assists. The No. 7-seeded Cavs will play familiar foe Cary Academy on Tuesday night at Alumni Field. DA defeated the Chargers twice this year, both in comeback fashion and both in overtime.

Girls Tennis
It has been another banner year for the DA girls tennis team, which earned the No. 4 seed and a first-round bye in the state tournament. The long TISAC win streak continues as the girls ran through the league again with their fifth straight unbeaten conference championship: That’s 44 consecutive conference wins and a 79-1 record in their last 80 TISAC matches. The team was led at the top of the lineup by Keerthi Nelluri '27 (13-2 in first singles) and Danna Chaparro '26 (6-2 mainly in second singles). The duo is unbeaten together — 12-0 — in first doubles. Ninth graders Leah Yang '29 (combined 28-3) and Taylor Hill '29 (combined 19-10) have been crucial in the middle of the lineup.

Cross-Country
The DA cross-country teams head to Thursday’s TISAC meet in Cary ready to compete for the top spots. The girls team, fresh off their Durham City-County championship, stands first in the TISAC and second in the NCISAA 4A rankings. Audrey Crowder '26, the DA school record holder, won her third City-County title with Helen Barritt '28 (second) and Harper Maxwell '28 (fourth) placing in the top five. On the boys side, the Cavs head into the conference championshiops ranked second in the TISAC and fifth in the NCISAA 4A. At Wednesday’s City/County meet, the boys finished third as a team (59 points, 12 points behind Riverside and Jordan). Redmond Thorne '27 (seventh) and Nick Friga '26 (ninth) placed in the top 10. The Cavs' combined score of 91 points earned them the Dennis Cullen Trophy as the boys/girls combined champion by six points over Riverside.
