Duke field hockey standout Lauren Blazing '11 honored for academic excellence
A star on the Duke field hockey field and in the classroom, Lauren Blazing '11 recently received two honors in recognition of her excellence as a student-athlete from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). On the heels of being named to the 2014 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad in mid-March, she was named an NFHCA Division I Scholar of Distinction.

Josh Zoffer '10 wins World Universities Debating Championships with Harvard teammate
Durham Academy alumnus Josh Zoffer '10 and his debate teammate from Harvard University, Ben Sprung-Keyser, won the World Universities Debating Championships (WUDC) in Chennai, India, on Jan. 4. Zoffer and Sprung-Keyser's victory is the first win by Americans in more than a decade, and the duo is believed to be the youngest-ever team to win, as champions are typically graduate students.

Durham Academy Athletic Hall of Fame to induct inaugural class Dec. 6
In the more than 40 years since Durham Academy fielded its first varsity athletic teams, Cavaliers have won 70-plus state championships and dozens of athletes have gone on to successful collegiate and professional athletic careers. Josh Zoffer ’10 earns international academic award for paper on currency pegs
Durham Academy alumnus Josh Zoffer ’10 is among 43 of “the world’s brightest and most innovative undergraduate students” honored in The Undergraduate Awards international academic awards program for 2013. Zoffer, a senior at Harvard College, learned in late September that he had been chosen as the international winner in the International Relations & Politics category for his paper “The Currency of Coercion: The Effect of Currency Pegs on the Success of Economic Sanctions.”
