Durham Academy's mission is to provide each student with an education that will enable him or her to live a moral, happy and productive life. The Extended Day Program, started in 2002, supports this mission while providing a fun, comfortable and safe place for children to spend their after-school hours. Extended Day has been growing in size and popularity since its inception because it makes the transition between the regular school day and after-school hours easy to manage for kids and parents. In addition, our Extended Day staff is dedicated to providing high quality childcare that promotes healthy social interactions among children in various grades. Extended Day is a wonderful way for children to explore their interests, make friends and most importantly, have fun being a kid.
Aside from the regular after-school care, Extended Day is responsible for coordinating the Study Hall program and a variety of extracurricular activities that begin at the end of the school day. These extracurriculars include Chinese, drama, guitar, jumprope, fencing, martial arts, piano, yoga, dance and gymnastics and our list is continually growing.
If you ever need childcare on a day when Durham Academy is not in session due to parent conferences, professional development or faculty meetings, we also offer All Day Care which runs from 8:00am until 5:00pm in the Lower School Extended Day classroom. These days are filled with lots of fun activities and allow working parents to better manage their schedules.
