Have you gotten your copy of DA’s newest CD?

XIV Hours, the Upper School's auditioned a cappella group, has recorded a CD! The four-song album, The Acapelican EP, was recorded over two days during the final week of school last year; mixed over the summer with local company Liquid 5th Productions; and released in late August. It is now available for sale at CDBaby.com, for download on iTunes and other online resellers, and copies of the CD also can be purchased at Durham Academy’s Upper School bookstore.
XIV Hours began in October 2009, when the number of students who signed up for the Upper School’s lunchtime a cappella ensemble was enough to support a second, auditioned group. The 16 student members (plus US math teacher Jarrod Jenzano singing bass and US music teacher Mike Meyer beat-boxing) have started performing regularly for the DA community, and appeared on WKNC 88.1FM radio’s “All Things A Cappella” show in January to publicize the annual A Cappella Jam held at DA.
Pick up your copy of XIV Hours: The Acapelican EP today! And you can catch both of DA’s a cappella groups in action when they host the 4th Annual A Cappella Jam on January 29 in Kenan Auditorium. The concert will benefit WISER (Women’s Institute for Secondary Education and Research), which is working to build the first girls’ boarding school and research center in Muhuru Bay, Kenya. |
