Score:5-4

Event Recap:

What a roller coaster of a match.  DA held of Cary Academy by the slightest of margins as junior Joy Callwood took a three set thriller on court 1 to break a 4-4 tie and send the Cavs to their 10th straight win.  DA took all 3 doubles matches for the second straight time against the Chargers, though it was a wild scene as courts 1 and 3 went back and forth.  DA took the first point as Callwood teamed with Renee George for an 8-3 win on court 2.  On court 1, sophomores Alexis Galloway and Madeline Towning took early leads of 4-1, 5-2, and 6-3.  With the Cavs leading 7-4, they had four opportunities to close it out with match points, but the CA team of Natalie Timinskas and Chloe Hasund saved all four and ran back to take an 8-7 lead.  Galloway and Towning saved two match points of their own and would go on for a 7-2 tiebreak win.  On court 3, Julia King and Nicole Riepl rallied from 1-4 down to take leads of 5-4 and 6-5.  Cary got it to 7-7 before the DA captains duo won the final two games to remain unbeaten and give DA a 3-0 lead.

The Cavs would need every bit of the three doubles wins as the Chargers jumped on the Cavs in singles play.  Taylor Hunter and Madeline Towning lost their matches in straight sets while Renee George and Nicole Riepl saw second set leads slip away in their singles losses.  Galloway took a huge 2&3 win on court 3 as all eyes turned to the top court.  Taylor Timinskas, who had beaten Callwood earlier in the season, rallied for a second-set win and the two headed to a 10-point tiebreaker.  Callwood played from in front winning the first four points.  Timinskas rallied for the next four, but Callwood took the next 3 to go up 7-4.  She upped the lead to 9-6 and on her second match point closed out the match 10-7.  The Cavs improve to 14-1, their best 15-match start in school history and are now 6-0 in conference play with a 2-match lead in the standings.  DA has three matches next week, the first being a Monday conference battle with Wake Christian
