What's New at the Kirby-Horton?
Guest Author Deborah Hopkinson to visit Feb. 13

Durham Academy is excited to welcome acclaimed writer Deborah Hopkinson to campus Feb. 13. The author of more than 40 books, Hopkinson thrills readers with her works of historical and biographical fiction. Subjects include the building of the Empire State building, the culinary talents of Fannie Farmer, the experiments of Charles Darwin and family, the western adventures of musician/folklorist John Lomax and the beginnings of the Fisk University Jubilee Singers.

About Us
OUR MISSION

The Kirby-Horton Library in the Preschool and Lower School houses more than 20,000 items in inventory, including books, electronic media and equipment. Our program strives to promote lifelong learning by independent learners through:

         • developing a collection that supports curriculum and promotes a love of reading
         • integrating technology throughout the program
         • providing flexible access to the library resources while promoting recognition of libraries as a lifelong resource      
         • offering authentic learning opportunities to develop information literacy skills

 
CHECKOUT LIMITS     
         • Pre-K - 1 book
         • Kindergarten - 2 books
          • First Grade - 3 books
          • Second and Third grades - 4 books
          • Fourth Grade - 5 books
                  
Books are checked out for two weeks, however, students may return books any day and choose others.
