Seniors Justin Warren and Jason Lapidus

reach milestone boys tennis victories

Within a span of just five days, Durham Academy senior tennis players Justin Warren and Jason Lapidus officially became two of DA's most successful athletes, joining and advancing in the ranks of the five winningest tennis players in the DA record books. Warren now holds the school's all-time wins record, and Lapidus joined him in the 100-wins club. And in the spirit of true teamwork, Warren, who will play at the University of Connecticut next year, and Lapidus, who will compete at Duke, helped one another reach those records as doubles partners. The Upper School Madrid trip,

one incredible dish at a time

Fifteen Durham Academy Upper Schoolers spent their spring break, plus one week, in Madrid — on the second leg of an exchange program that began in the fall with Spanish students spending more than two weeks in North Carolina, where they were hosted by the families of the DA students who later traveled to Spain. See the trip through the eyes of junior Veronia Kim, who tells the story of the journey through food.

Dine Out for DA at Moe's April 8

Mark your calendar for the next Dining Out for DA event on Wednesday, April 8, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Moe's Southwest Grill. In addition to supporting Parents Association, you just might catch some of your favorite DA administrators on the Moe's serving line; rumor is that one might even dress for the occasion — as a taco! The Moe's located in Patterson Place (5332 McFarland Drive, Durham) will donate 10 percent of sales to Durham Academy Parents Association during the specified time period; just be sure to mention that you're with DA!

Preschoolers and families visit

Emerald Pond for spring fling

Preschool teachers, parents, students and their siblings took a beautiful spring stroll across the street to Emerald Pond assisted living facility Wednesday afternoon to enjoy the company of senior citizens they've come to call friends. As the dozens of tiny little legs made the trek, guided by a careful crossing guard contingent from the Durham Police Department and DA security team, they could see the festivities awaiting them as they made their way up the hill. Read More
