'Caring about lemurs to save lemurs' on

Lower Schoolers' visit to Duke center

First-graders were bubbling with excitement Tuesday morning as they climbed aboard Durham Academy buses for a 10-minute drive to the Duke Lemur Center. Over the next three weeks, every Lower School student will tour the center in preparation for a February visit by guest author Richard Sobol. Lemurs don’t like cold weather, so the tours are taking place while the weather is still warm.

As the buses drove down Erwin Road, first-graders were encouraged to think about the stories they see at the Lemur Center. “Keep your eyes, ears and hearts open. All those will help you tell a story,” said Lower School librarian Michelle Rosen, who heads up the Lower School’s guest author program. Read More
